Our service is individualized and targeted based on each patient's health, habits, and environmental factors. Many oral conditions are related to medical issues in a bidirectional way. Temperature, blood pressure, pulse and blood oxygen saturation are measured at each appointment to best screen for overall health baselines and subsequent changes.
Our area of expertise is the head and neck and how it is connected to the rest of the body. Your existing oral conditions will be charted and evaluated to include a comprehensive oropharyngeal cancer screening with TELscope and VELscope technology in addition to visual inspection and manual palpation.
Chairside pH levels and nitrate levels are measured at each appointment to evaluate acidity of the oral cavity as well as the level of salivary nitrate available to produce nitric oxide, which is vital to optimal health. Saliva will be collected and sent to an outside laboratory for genomic sequencing at your initial appointment and periodically to assess oral health as related to the total oral microbiome flora. Evaluation will determine proper balance of the total oral microbial community, and any risk factors associated with imbalance.
We use holistic pre-treatment antibacterial rinses and a diode laser to reduce bacterial load prior to instrumenting around gums. This precautionary procedure protects the patient from a bacteremia (bacteria in the blood steam). Post-scaling gingival irrigation is performed at each appointment as well, to further reduce the bacterial load.
Initial Full Mouth 2D Radiographs will be taken to identify bone levels and any abnormalities. Radiographs aid in identifying caries (cavities), history of bone loss and infections. We utilize digital low radiation handheld devices. Intraoral photos will be taken to document existing conditions and any abnormal conditions that may exist.
Evaluation of radiographic bone loss, periodontal charting of pocket depths, recession and bleeding on probing is charted to assist in evaluating periodontal health.
Your initial appointment will include either a healthy preventive cleaning, which is performed in a healthy mouth with 1-3 mm pocket depths and no bleeding on probing. If bleeding and inflammation are present, a scaling in the presence of inflammation will be performed (localized 4 mm pocket depths and bleeding). If clinical evidence of periodontal disease is evident further treatment will be necessary after salivary Oral Health Report results are reviewed.
It is our priority to thoroughly educate our patients regarding the root cause of oral dysbiosis, periodontal disease, and the oral systemic connection. Hands-on personalized oral hygiene instruction/demonstration will be reviewed and home care recommendations will be made.
Sealants, Minimally Invasive Caries Arresting Medicaments for incipient carious lesions, Perio Protect Trays, Desiccation Periodontal Therapy, and Laser assisted non-surgical periodontal therapy.
